Rabbits Introduction
Owning a pet rabbit can be as fulfilling and
enjoyable as keeping a cat or a dog. Rabbits, however, have the added
advantage of needing less space than most normal pets. For this reason,
rabbits are the preferred pets of people living in apartments. Rabbits
are clean and playful, giving good companionship to children and adults
alike.

However, if you are considering getting a rabbit, you
should be aware that rabbits require the same level of commitment,
attention and care as all pets. Most people tend to believe that rabbits
require less vet care. While this may be true, it does not mean that the
owner can abscond from his responsibilities. A rabbit has to housed, fed
and cared for in ways that suits the species. Rearing rabbits is not a
short term affair. Most rabbits live between 10 to 15 years. Rabbits
also require adequate ventilation and cannot survive extreme
temperatures so that not all climates suit them. These aspects should be
borne in mind before considering the rabbit as a pet.

characteristics. You may wish to choose the breed that is most suited to
your conditions and preferences. The different rabbit breeds are as
